About Us

Don't Lock Them Up Lift Them Up was inspired after watching a youth football team celebration  winning a championship game.  The coaches celebrated their players, congratulating them on their hard work.  One of the players was lifted in the air like a victorious little champion.  That moment was an instant reminder how much we need to uplift our youth within the community.

I am Bennie Dotie, founder of Don't Lock Them Up Lift Them Up.  With over 40 years of experience as a photographer and advocate of community development, I have seen many challenges  and opportunities to create change within our community.  Our organization is dedicated to transforming lives and building a brighter future for our communities.  We understand that the key to reducing incarceration rates and breaking the cycle of recidivism lies in empowering our youth with the education, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed.  We believe that by providing support and creating pathways to success, we can help young people avoid the pitfalls of the criminal justice system and become upstanding, productive citizens.

We recognize that every young person is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and aspirations.  Our programs are designed to address these individual needs, offering personalized support and encouragement.
